Conditional (2 years) – The initial Kansas teaching license

Professional (5 years) – A 2nd level license that is maintained through professional development

Accomplished (10 years) – an advanced level license for an individual who has completed an advanced performance assessment

Does Kansas require a background clearance for licensure? 

Yes.  All applicants for an initial Kansas license must submit one fingerprint card for the purpose of a KBI and FBI background clearance report.   

Fingerprints are also required for applicants whose Kansas certificate/license has been expired for 6 months or more.

Where do I get an application packet for a Kansas teaching license?   

Completed a Kansas program

Contact the licensure officer at your Kansas institution for the appropriate application form and to coordinate the application process.

Completed an out-of-state program
